We don’t know about you, but we’re so excited that Spring is finally here! Whidbey Island is a great place to be to usher in Spring because we have so many events happening all over the island! We thought we’d round up a few of our faves so that you too can take advantage of all that Spring can offer on Whidbey Island.

Get in On the Animal Parade!

Okay, so it’s not a literal parade of animals (though that would be pretty cool), we’re talking about the multiple events that celebrate the unique wildlife (and not so wild life) of our fair isle. First up is Bunny Daze an annual event in Langley that’s a celebration of all things bunny-shaped. March 26-31 hop through the shops in Langley to discover a wide array of bunny gifts and items that include everything from chocolates to blown glass. Then, top it all off on Saturday, March 31st with a Wascally Wabbit hunt for kids of all ages.

It’s that season again! Whale watching season that is! Mystic Sea Charters has already started their whale watching excursions, and on April 10th there’s a whale of a parade along the streets of Langley! Dress up as your favorite sea creature and come cheer the marchers on!

Stop and Smell the Roses (or the Rhododendron)

Peak bloom season at Meerkerk Gardens in the appropriately named community of Greenbank is in early April, and it’s truly a sight to behold. Their specialty is rhododendron, and there are ten acres of garden with four miles of trails to enjoy Washington’s very own state flower.

Want to learn how to get your hands dirty in the garden? Come on out for the fourth annual Port Susan Home & Garden Show on April 14th. Workshops topics include rose cultivation and care, gardening for pollination, and how to renovate your kitchen without having to resort to counseling.

Get Out and Run!

Shake off your winter blues and get moving during the Whidbey Island Marathon. The run occurs every April and has everything from a 1k kids run to a full marathon. The full marathon course wends its way through much of the Northern part of the island and ends near Oak Harbor.

Have a furry friend? Bring’em with you to the Pawz by the Sea 5k. Run or walk your way along the shoreline to support Happy Hounds 4H Club and Good Cheer Pet Food Bank. Leashed dogs are welcome at this event!

No matter how you choose to celebrate Spring, we hope it’s fun and full of sunshine. To stock up on supplies and to help elevate your festivities, check out our menu or stop by Whidbey Island’s best weed store to pick up something special today. Don’t forget! We’re expanding our hours. Starting April 1st (no kidding!), we’ll be open from 8am-8pm every day of the week!
