Congratulations! We’ve made it to summer! Even though the season doesn’t have quite the same shine to it as when we were just out of school and the days of summer break stretched before us in an infinite stream, it’s still great to have left the colder months behind. Plus, there are definite advantages to being 21+ in this day and age. Here are a few ways to enjoy the summer on Whidbey whether you’re aiming to indulge in some adult activities or celebrate the kid in you. Or better yet, figure out a way to do both.

Take an Artistic Trip

Head over to Oak Harbor and check out the art trail. There are over a dozen statues scattered throughout the town from different points in Oak Harbor’s history. It’s a great chance to get out and stretch your legs. Bonus points if you get a group of friends together and turn your statue stroll into a competitive scavenger hunt. The last clue has to lead to the Kraken. Those pesky creatures are always guarding some treasure or another.

Grab Tickets to the Garden Tour

Scavenger hunts not your thing? On June 16th, take a sedate trip through the trees during Whidbey Island’s Garden Tour. In its 22nd year, the tour shuttles islanders and out of towners alike around our fair Whidbey to see four or five of the most breathtaking gardens on the island. If towering trees, flirty flowers, and immaculately manicured lawns are your thing, this event is for you! Act fast because there are only a thousand tickets available and once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

Get Your Shakespeare On

Watched too many hours of Netflix and need some culture to soothe your barbaric soul? Get thee to the Island Shakespeare Festival in Langley! In its 8th year, the festival runs from July 14th through September 3rd with shows that range from Twelfth Night to Othello. The festival uses a pay what you can model, so if you’re looking for an inexpensive way to ditch the kids on date night or just something new, you should check out a performance.

No matter how you choose to spend your summer, we hope it’s relaxing and full of friends and family. To stock up on supplies and to help elevate your adventures, check out our menu or stop by Whidbey Island’s best cannabis store to pick up something special today.
